Despite everything i still think you are onto something with the way you drew the black fur. It might not look spectacular as fur but i bet it would make a nice touch for a horror/halloween themed image.
Draw a character with a blackened slender skeleton like body and red eyes that cry blood, add the hairy spiky things on the body everywhere and give it a meathook or chair leg that drips a bit of blood, draw a daycare during night around it with merely the moonlight shining through the windows for background and it might just become the perfect gift/decoration for halloween for example.
