MY PLACE s03:e01 - Hide and Seek

In some ways, I miss being a detective… or at least pretending to be one, anyway.
Not that I’d ever wish another little pink scoundrel upon Place or anything, but it certainly gave me something to do. This village, for as much as I’ve grown fond of it, is hardly the epicenter of all things exciting… but it certainly has its quirks.

It’s been just a little over a month since Vladimir was taken away and the mayor celebrated his one-year anniversary in office. Two days after that marked my one-year celebration too, though there wasn’t much of a party. The most congratulations I received for having survived this long was a simple “Oh, really? Cool.” from Charlise, but that was enough for me.

Whether or not my second year in Place will be much better is hard to say, considering how I’m probably going to move away soon. In spite of what I told the mayor, I am SERIOUSLY torn about leaving Place. Even after making amends with that hairless ape, I told myself that there was no way a girl like me could benefit from living here for much longer. I have aspirations, dreams… if I stay put in this backwater town, I'll never make anything of myself.

But that’s when I realised something…

…I have no ambitions.

It came as somewhat of a shock to me at first; how could I have nothing to aim for? I’m supposed to be the smart one around here! But then I ed why I came here in the first place. Escape. “I’m sure,” I muttered, giving a nod to Simon who was much happier eating a banana than ing in with the mayor’s clumsy exercise routine.

“I know Place like the back of my hand at this point!” he continued. “I know each and every good hiding spot, so this’ll be a cinch!”

“Good!” said Charlise, giving him an aggressive pat on the back. “...’cuz you’re seeking!”

“Wait WHAT!?” cried the mayor. “I don’t wanna seek! That’s lame!”

“That’s why YOU’RE doing it!” Charlise insisted. “Don’t worry, we won’t hide in any buildings or up Main Street or…”

“But THOSE are the best hiding spots!!”

“I’m sure you’ll do fine, cool guy!” Simon assured him. “We could go easy on you if you’d like?”

The mayor rolled his eyes. “No need. I’m sure Charlise here will be easy enough to spot from a mile away…”

I won’t lie to you, I was very surprised that he continued to live after that quip.
This wasn’t exactly how I expected to spend my afternoon, but it seems that whenever I complain about being bored, Place throws me a curveball, so I better practice catching them.

Alice kicks off the new season this time.

As you can see, I’ve changed the format a little bit.
Season Three is gonna be what I’m dubbing “the polaroid season”, where I’m gonna be making simpler drawings in this fashion in exchange for slightly bigger blocks of text.

I’ve gone for this angle because taking screenshots has always been such a large part of my experience with New Leaf over the years (I also went crazy with the photo mode in New Horizons when I still played that game) so I think this format not only suits an Animal Crossing series, but it also makes my life a little easier.
