Putting a hand animated piece through an interpolator is like dunking a perfectly cooked wagyu steak in ketchup and ranch.
By all means, you're allowed to like stuff that's bad but someone will wish a thousand curses upon you for it.

  • Idk why but it sorta looks like someone just ran this through ai

I’m not saying it is but it looks like it.

  • I don't know exactly what they did to the smoothing but it makes it look AI assisted.

Not trying to be mean, just confused.

It sorta is and isn't AI
My guess is that it was ed through DAIN which predates the AI bubble rise by quite a while and is a rather commonly abused tool. It's an interpolator. It effectively looks at the frame data and guesstimates what goes in between frames to artificially double the framerate. The problem is that, much like AI, it only posseses knowledge but has zero understanding of it. It cannot understand what is happening in an animation and it breaks a number of animation rules resulting in this unnatural motion.

It is a program that you put a video into and it spits out a janky doubled framerate... not exactly a high effort contribution which is why posts like this go against the guidelines.

Why add frame interpolation? It makes it look so bad!

Especially when the animation they put through it is from an artist who has a reputation for extremely fluid animation. Sterr's work does not need any more frames, it is already quite impressive with how detailed and natural the motion is.
