I think it's more the absurdity of having human on anyone in zootopia, not necessarily the ship.

Usually Judyxhuman pics posted here generally gets high upvotes, bit in this case get donwvoted just because the human is a self-insert black guy, if you look, all the pics involving Judy and this oc (or other black human ocs) are all downvoted, and it's not difficult to understand why racism.

It's the obvious self insert. That's why it's getting downvotes.

Here’s what I was thinking: What if we took the Goodbye Volcano High/ I Wani Hug That Gator route? Change Inco’s skin from white to light brown/brown, is that considered cringe/self insert??

To be fair when you look at the other posts with the Self Insert Character Quincy, there are two that are positively received. And no, it's not racism, if you look at the other Human_on_Anthro Dark_skin Judy_Hopps there are other posts with Dark Skin Humans that some are not self inserts and others may be self inserts that are not even closely negatively received like this one. It might either the self insert or the artists who got the commission because the same artist did this before and got one positively received.

No, if you're OC is a self insert in a well known franchise or fandom it can be cringe. If you're OC is Human that's okay (depending if you make him/her some Marry Sue/Garry Stu or some Ow The Edge level of edgyness).

There are plenty of OCs that are self inserts that are super cringy and aren't human. For example: duncan_(zeromccall).

Nope, it would still be the same character just with a different skin tone. Look at the Green Anon, he's neither Black or White but he get's an overwhelmingly positive receiption.

The e621 racists are out in full force once again to downvote another one of this person's commissions because he's black and downvoting anyone who points it out. Yet there's countless posts on here of Judy with white human men with hundreds of upvotes and you don't see any whining on those about "self-inserts".

I think the fault is with the platform (E621), for not having a "named_self_insert" tag that people could use to blacklist this kind of work.

There's dialogue in this, and it consists of the person being called by name. It shows narcissism on the part of the commissioner, they want to show to everyone that it's specifically him, not anyone else that might identify with the situation.
The downvoting is much more likely to be a repulsion against that kind of self-fantasy than for racism. You can find many green-voted works that have non-White humans on anthros (including from this artist and commissioner by the way).

I'm still figuring out how a black OC automatically mean self insert, but when the name of an OC is actually said in a commission like this, not only is it self insert AND it's narcissism? What an OC's name can't be spoken in art with canon characters?
