So having your real name and real artist's reputation locked in to doing porn, however lucrative porn might be, can close off a ton of other possible avenues and opportunities -- and it can seriously hinder anyone taking you seriously as an artist.
Is that right or just? Hell nah. But society doesn't change THAT fast. We have examples on this site itself of what working in porn used to have to look like, mass-produced "Tijuana bibles" cranked out in complete anonymity and distributed in secret because it could literally get you jail time and a criminal record for producing porn depending on where you were. That we're at the point where this kind of thing can be a choice at all is a major change.
