The original design of Krystal from Star Fox Adventures has a number of strange artistic choices. One of them haunts me: three toes... It doesn't make sense! If Krystal is an alien from another planet, then why does she differ only in this detail? The fur color is not an argument, since there is a pink cat and hare in the Star Fox universe. I know she's the only furry character in the franchise who didn't wear shoes before ing the hero squad, but why did the designer stop with just fur and toes? Her arms, head, height, tail and everything else does not mean that she is a guest from another world.

Thinking about how much Krystal might be different from a regular Cornerian like Fox led me to create this concept. This is the first version of the design and I will probably change some details in the future. Making a new character so that it resembles a well-known character is not an easy task. Most likely, I did not cope with that task...

More about design:

• I increased her height - this first of all makes it clear that she is not from these places.
• Her limbs are longer relative to her torso and now all have three toes.
• The tail and neck are also slightly longer, as is the size of their fur.
• I decided to change her ears, since this is also a noticeable part of her appearance, and I did not want Krystal to look very much like a fox.
• A pair of outer fangs to her upper jaw to give Krystal a more unusual look.
• The tattoos have also been redesigned to better reflect Krystal's foreign culture. Their color is turquoise, since tattoos are not congenital, but are created with a special acid obtained from the dust of the mineral (a fragment of a mineral is in the family pendant).
• Combat armor consists of two layers: metal plates and leather upholstery, which also connects the plates to each other on the left leg and arm.
• On the back there is a magnetic scabbard for the staff. They keep the weapon strictly in the center of the handle and lighten the weight due to its weightlessness.
• The Cerinian staff "Koa" can only be used by specially trained monks who are capable of synergizing with the scarlet crystals of weapons. To do this, they wear a crystal fragment on their foreheads.

The set of drawings depicts moments from the history of Krystal's first meeting with Fox. She doesn't know his language yet, so she doesn't speak. In what order to arrange the frames of the story - decide for yourself, but I tried to depict the time period: day, red evening, rainy night, morning.
While working on the concept, I had new ideas for redeg other parts of the franchise, so I decided to create a logo for "Star Fox REU", with which I will mark new drawings of this kind.
