Natani still has the most delicious booty of any character. Hell, she's got the whole package going on! Keith is one lucky dude

You see these tits? THESE ARE MANLY TITS!

That seems to be where he's headed, as far as his self-image goes. His flirting with Keith certainly had undertones of it.

    Nah m8 that's a women.

Do to a magic-related incident, Natani has a part of his brother's soul, which basically caused him to start identifying as male. Hence why his gender is listed as such.

  • “Natani secretly has an exceptional singing voice (& howl!) but never uses it, as it often comes out as unmistakably feminine.”

Now im just imagining that whenever Natani starts singing, he/she suddenly turns into fucking Celine Dion

Nat doesn't "have" part of her brother's soul but was magically hooked up to it like to a life machine due to otherwise fatal damage to her mind. The more Nat heals, the less she depends on it. In other words, it's Nat's brother's soul manifesting itself - not her own

And that's discounting the whole character arc where it was a revelation for her that strength and masculinity aren't synonymous, a lifetime spent in sexist, patriarchal society warped her worldview on what being a man or a woman means, Zen's soul filling out the blanks altered her perception of who she is, and so on

... and throughout and by the current point in that arc, he still expressly identifies as he/him, and even goes so far as to explain it to the rest of the cast. Overcoming internalized misogyny did not magically make him stop being transmasc. One revelation of that arc was that even before the soulsplice, he'd still kind of wanted to be seen as male - the soul splice led to him taking on some of Zen's way of seeing it but wasn't actually the origin point.

She's a character in a story and you, as the audience, have a more complete picture than she does. Acknowledging her kin's perception of genders is hot garbage comes with also acknowledging there is nothing wrong with being a woman, which was one of steps towards accepting herself as one.

You nailed it, Natani's younger self specifically said she liked being seen as a boy. Not that she ever believed she was one. This fits perfectly given Natani's personality, that the only world she knew was where "if you're born as a woman, that's all people ever see", and that she yearned for strength which was synonymous with masculinity for her. She never made any conscious choice to identify as a male.

Crucially, Nat saw herself as a woman up until black magic fried her brain and she became dependent on her brother's mental bits for survival. Her entire arc is about healing this damage, all its fallout, becoming fully independent again and accepting herself - all while overcoming her true, rather than perceived, weaknesses. This inevitably means accepting accepting herself as a woman, at least to major degree - anything else would contradict her development so far.

BTW, you replied to a 4 year old comment. When I was writing that, Nat had still a splintered mind with Youngtani doing her thing. Now that it's wrapped up, Tom came with an excuse to make her not bind her chest anymore. You can clearly see where this is going.
