I know I'm going to get downvoted to absolute hell for this but I really don't understand why people think liking the same gender or vice versa is a big deal

Like imo there's nothing really special about liking someone of the same sex its not affecting me or literally anyone

I agree, although to some, having their sexual orientation out there is very liberating, and I think that's what the whole Pride thing is supposed to be about. I know I myself being bi, even though I'm not fully out, I'll occasionally make note of the fact when I feel it's appropriate, and it does feel good to be able to do it (although I'm still apprehensive of telling family lol)

No its not a big deal but its basically a protest. There are still people who want to rid the earth of homosexuals. Its basically a middle finger to those against it. Also there's still countries who punish people for being homosexual. At least their not killing people and burning buildings down.

Nope, nothing special, as liking someone is the same whether they are the opposite sex or the same. It's lovely either way.

If it wasn't for the hate against same sex couples, then there wouldn't be such a drive for being proud of accepting yourself for who you are. It's such a shame really.

I know there's probably a good reason for it but can anyone explain why it got downvoted?

I see no reason, it's a cute image, and the artist is displaying something they believe in. doesn't seem like something to downvote, even if it isn't pride month anymore

There will always be people who want to rid the world of literally anything you can think of. The question is at what point does activism and pride cause more detriment than good by annoying people who wouldn't have otherwise cared if it wasn't being plastered on every corner. Not to mention it's just reminding people you're different. If it's no big deal then there's no reason to call attention to it. I'm pretty sure most pride things are downvoted these days because people are just tired of seeing it. Hell, I'm bi and I'm sick of seeing it.

Damn you really just told it straight as it is XD
Pride month was cool for like... the first two years of it when I came out? Then I was like is this still going on for the WHOLE MONTH.

I definitely am starting to see a lot more people around me see it as A negative thing not because of gay pride but more “Yeah I heard you the first 300 times”

It's mostly driven by religious ideologies, I bet the majority of people really don't care about other people's liking in regard of homosexuality.

Radical ideals are the biggest threat I would assume, especially in radical muslim countries (executions), another example would be the spread of Christianity in Europe. The Greek, Romans and Celtics were quite tolerant about it before the church showed up.

Interesting is also the history of Japan and China (till Mao), as it seems it was mostly accepted there. East Asia in general has no major restrictions against homosexuality. (Was surprised to find out that North Korea seems relatively chill about it, too)

It's mostly to blame on the media and a small but loud minority. Best example is Hollywood, with their recent "brave and stunning" movies - which nobody seem to care about according to the financial losses they cause. Together with the pandemical Cancel Culture and the imagined Moral High Ground people seem indeed to get sick of topics like Tolerance, Feminism or LGBQT that get shoved down their throats constantly

    (My opinion)

I would say that's a very good opinion. We as a people have put way too much stock in these things, ironically making tolerance less about actual tolerance and actually making it a form of intolerance towards others. before accepting myself as being bi, I still was in of those who were openly gay, just not in of those who wanted to shove that aspect down my throat, because that sort of thing didn't matter to me, the kind of person you are is the important thing. that's what these communities should be about. being the best YOU you can be.

I hate people who make fun of furries and gay people.

even before realizing I was bi, and hated people calling me gay, I hated people making fun of gay people too. you don't need to get along, but live and let live, y'know?

difference is that straights didnt have to fight for their rights or even lives. Straights were never killed for their sexual orientation, straights were never imprisoned for being straight. No one is oppressed for being straight. Literally gay marriage was only legalized 5 fucking years ago. We have every right to show and flaunt our pride because we fought for this. Its special because of the history behind it and the fact that we are still fighting to this day for rights
