Trying to fix that disaster of a movie by making the hair red eh?

It spent decades getting me hooked on redheads as a universal symbol of hotness. Why does it feel like they're trying to rewrite history with a bait & switch?

Because they have decided to make a cheap cash grab powered by nostalgia, and they have also decided that it's a great time to add in some politically correct social justice BS no one wants for good boy points, even though it doesn't fit the movies in any shape or form.

What difference does it make, though? She's a mermaid. It's not like her skin color makes a damn bit of difference to the story.

And given the Carribean setting, dark skin makes more sense than Nordic pale.

  • Can we all agree that the movie is gonna be bad, not because Ariel went from a cute ginger to a cute black chick, but that it's a remake?

The urge to make everything political correct in remakes just adds a cherry on top of bad ideas.

That's not the point. They are black washing a white character to look "progrressive". It's lazy and insulting. If Disney actually cared about diversity, they would adapt an African fable or legend. But they don't because it's easier to just paint an established white character black and call it a day. That is why people are mad.
