People notice because the internal shot was made to be looked at as much as the rest of the piece. And when the artist is known for making fairly high quality art, even small details are noticeable by diehard fans when the details are off. People care soo much because they care for the artist and want them to be posting their best work.
People noticing and pointing out screwed up details to the artist, even something seemingly so small, is their way of showing they care about the artist and their work. If people didn't care then there would be no reason for the artist to put any effort/time/care into their own work. They could just slop utterly garbage and no one would care.
