Yay, let's joke around about a tragedy, seriously wtf?

I destroyed the world trade center countless times in King of the Monsters 2 before and after the attacks. by censoring it and yelling "OMG DON'T TALK ABOUT IT!" you're letting the terrorism win, because what did they do? They got rid of the buildings so you couldn't see them, now they are being removed from the media and soon, you can't talk about them.

Give them the finger and post as many jokes and BS as possible and tell 'em to stick it up their ass.

Why are Titanic Jokes and other sort of black humor jokes still "politically correct" then?

You got me there, I find little if any black humor funny.

  • I understand it's hard to get over the past, especially 9/11. But what's done is done and nothing will ever change that. Sure, art making fun of what happened can be horrid, but allowing something like this to upset... I find rather asinine. Let's get over the past and just fap, cause I'm sure that's why we're all here on this site for.

Do whatever you feel is necessary, but comparing video games that had the towers to a real life event in which thousands of people lost their lives is really something to mock.

How do you seriously come to the conclusion that joking about people losing their lives in a horrific attack on our homeland to basically "sticking it to the terrorists?"

I never understood why people joke around with the event, I know relatives that had friends or family working in either of the towers when they fell, but let's laugh that they died right?

By any chance are you familiar with Hiroshima and Nagasaki bruh?

You'll have to refresh my memory bruh as I wasn't aware those two Japanese cities were bombed to hell and back by the United States in 1945, oh wait....

I would hope comparing the bombings of two Japanese cities has fuck all to do with the two World Trade Center towers because to my knowledge they do not.

I've never seen any jokes in regards to those cities being bombed by the United States, but damn if there aren't plenty of jokes regarding the deaths of thousands in the wake of September 11th, 2001.

Well, keep in mind it has been fourteen years since the attack. That might not seem like a long enough time to make light of it for you, but for others it has been more than long enough.

Tradedy becomes a subject of comedy over time. It's only natural, especially when there really isn't anything you can do about the fact that it happened. You can consider it a sign that the nation is healing, when you think about it. If everyone still regarded the subject with a stern remorse it would prove that we have not moved past it. I understand that you don't view it the same way but you're much closer to the event than many others and that makes it a much more personal and offensive subject.

I realize that it sounds incredibly jaded, but the fact that people can make jokes about this without immediate backlash and ridicule is a good sign mixed with bad implications regarding the person making the joke.

No matter how many people die in an event, there will be jokes made about it because the comedian's mindset revolves around going where others won't and deliberately being offensive. Nothing is off limits, and I honestly don't feel like it should be.

Don't misunderstand me, I'm not making light of the tragedy, but I'm also not going to pretend I haven't made and laughed at jokes regarding it. It's almost therapeutic in a very fucked up way.

    I can't even...

Whatever makes it acceptable for you and others to laugh at the loss of thousands of lives be my guest, I'll never find such events funny.

Comedy knows no bounds sure, boundaries are meant to be broken, but I can't immediately name one comedian that's made jokes about the holocaust, not saying there haven't been any but joke about that and I guarantee there'd be backlash.

It's a convenient way of justifying jokes about people dying when it's still a memory we're trying to look past and I'd like to think many people have, but still given the fact the event is relatively young it's unacceptable to those that have lost friends and family in the event.

I dunno, all I'm saying is that I don't find those types of jokes funny in any way shape or form, I find therapy in the age of time and acceptance of the event having happened, nothing can change that.

Joan Rivers, Chris Rock, Patton Oswalt, Joe Rogan, Seth McFarland, and even Louie C.K. have all made jokes about 9/11 or the holocaust. And those are just to name a few. Most people aren't nearly as somber as you're making them out to be and you should learn to accept the fact that everyone deals with tragedy differently.

I don't really appreciate your redaction of my reply as though it were incomprehensible or completely asinine. I openly itted that making jokes about it is both fucked up and negatively implicating. If you think what I was doing was justifying the mentality, you're completely wrong. I'm playing devil's advocate at best and itting that I've been guilty of making a few jokes myself. That is not the same thing as saying that it's a good thing or even okay. I did say that it's a sign of us getting past this tragic event as a nation, but that's as far as it goes. Consider that a silver lining if nothing else, not a justification nor a proposition for the behavior.

You know people (or know people who know people) who died in the towers/aftermath and that naturally would amplify your grief towards the situation. Which gives cause for you to regard jokes about it as much more offensive than the average person would.

I don't know anybody who even knew anyone who knew anyone involved in 9/11. I'm completely removed from the situation. Does that mean I don't think it was a tragedy? Certainly not. Does that prevent me from being able to see humor where it shouldn't be? Nope. I'm one of those people who appreciates offensive humor. Does that mean that I think 9/11 jokes are funny? Eh, some are some aren't.

There's definitely a line, and that line is the subject of the joke. If you're specifically joking about the deaths of workers, engers, or servicemen during the event, that's too dark for me to consider funny. If you're joking about the towers themselves, the planes, or the hijackers, go right ahead. Inanimate objects/Nazis are certainly the subjects of plenty of other jokes.

You can consider me a jaded, cynical, depraved asshole or whatever else you please. It won't bother me one bit. However, keep in mind I took the time to give some insight on the darker side of humanity for you and did so as respectfully as I could manage.

If you wish to continue this discussion, consider doing so in message form. A comment thread on a picture of a futa pokemon penetrating a building is hardly the place for serious conversation.

    The wall

I suppose you have a point, I guess I should be asking why people laugh at tragedy outright than honoring those that died.

As for my supposed redaction of your initial comment it was to me justified in the moment, but upon reading this rather long winded comment, I can somewhat see your side of things.

It's been 14 years. GET OVER IT!

This goes both ways, one for still honoring the lives of those lost, and juveniles that make the jokes.

Well, yeah it's difficult to give a sense of perspective without a wall of text unfortunately, at least for me. But if I've shed any light on the matter for you, I'd say it was successful.
