Description

Well, for this reconstruction I've decided to go with bright colors because bright colors are fun, and I like raccoons, so why not a striped tail??

Nah, I'm just kidding. In reality, sinosauropteryx is one of the fossils with preserved feathers. And even feather coloration, including the striped tail! You can look it up, it's pretty cool.

Where I've added some speculation is with the melanistic variant. I don't know how realistic this could be, but I went with that stage of melanism where the animal isn't fully black and you can still see the standard markings. Because that would be hella boring otherwise. Here.
