So the main mission of the good guys is to prevent the game from being won. so I doubt live service games like TF2 are either dead already or are immortal for not having an actual ending. but there are also games where the world is going to shit and that's why the hero is trying to save the day so if the good guys stop them then it's kinda a lose/lose situation.
also the pilot showed that Kit doesn't know who the Protagonist of each game world is when she goes to one, so if they go to a game world where the Protagonist is a villain they might accidently help the villain thinking that will save the world when really that will just farther ruin it.

MemberFrom what I could gather in the pilot, games exist in kind of a Groundhog Day state until they're beaten, where they explode into a substance. The protagonists believe maintaining that Groundhog Day state is saving lives while the antagonists believe the substance can be used to undo and sidestep the whole predicament.
I doubt they're going borderline character assassinate Kit and Kaboodle with a Resident Evil, Eternal Darkness or especially a Manhunt game, but them accidentally helping get a Bad Ending- which is just brutal for the people they want to save until the end would be interesting.
