Miles could be having a better day right now

Terrible news. Although if he was really desperate he could always become a stripper. He's got the body for it.

    That's capitalism in general.
Always turn a profit every year.
If we can't via revenue, we force it by cutting debts, including employees.
    Fuck capitalism.

What money would you pay people with if you didn't turn a profit?

That logic only works if you're an edgy twelve year old or the government. The former needs to grow up eventually and even the latter has to pay the bills somehow. Usually by taking other people's money or printing more (which is just an indirect way to do option 1).

Well, if it was up to me, the United States would go back to the Dwight D. Eisenhower / John F. Kennedy vision of a "New Frontier for America" that we had during a lot of the past century: in which big business and big government were both clamped down upon by extremely high ethical standards, including in particular strict protections for worker's rights and high taxes on the wealthy, while the country as a whole invested its money in "do-gooder" public causes such as space exploration, education, infrastructure, and healthcare.

That's a conversation for a whole other online platform, though.
