Games UI design hurts my eyes a lot.
It's mixture of basically everything, extremely high contrast colors everywhere, many elements are at edges and there's no padding or aligment, sometimes elements just go beyond the boundaries set for no meaningful reason, changing style from pixel art to binary drawing and to full resolution antialiased assets, overlapping elements, several fonts that look entirely differend from each other or anything else, etc.

I don't believe that a full on personal critique was particularly requested :/

I mean, I agree with you completely on a base level, but the tone you delivered the information with is rather rude and phrased not as constructive criticism, but as criticism for criticism's sake.

honestly what the dude said was pretty constructive imo. good art, but yeah alot alot of the everything clashes with itself like a war torn battlefeild.

for 'constructive' id say take a moment and streamline the looks of the chat box. i had to really squint and zoom in on my phone to figure out what the birds pfp thingy even looked like cuase it was just a mash of colour while being an odd variation of smugface.

regardless, everyone can hate on the , but it doesnt change the fact that my vision when from 20/20 to 10/10 trying to see half the elements for what they were. i hope the artist makes more art and learns over time tho.

  • Honestly, there's some cool stuff in here! The idea of changing to the next character like that, shifting the storyline, is honestly pretty cool and, with the proper development and writing, would make for an interesting game narrative! It'd be cool to be able to preview the basic info about the character before the fight; namely those top three stats, presumably HP, Mana and Speed; as well as the basic information, including the name, species, level if applicable and whether or not you can take over with them if you lose. It'd also be cool to have the ability to, if you win, absorb certain abilities or stats from the enemy. Whether that's a basic level or stat, like adding one to your HP/Mana/Speed etc depending on which of theirs was best, or choosing from a pool of abilities you know they have. Maybe that needs to be decided automatically if you decide on the perma option when losing, so the risk with switching character is they'll pick something suboptimal. The UI is... complicated, I'll give previous criticism that, but I don't think it's *quite* as bad as it's being made out to be. There are definitely some decisions to be made, in areas like art style and font, to simplify and streamline the UI, and to make the framework of the game easier to shape into what it could become.

This was really straight-to-the-point and pretty constructive. Really well written and completely all good points.
