King Sombra's Tyranny Page 5

Celestia had gathered slaves of different categories.

Mostly, she went for the mages. Beings of magical power that could help her to understand any arcane cause to this disturbance. An alicorn and a naturally talented magician would be excellent weapons in a fight against any corruption that had taken root in Sombra's perfect Equestria. The former Princess Cadence and Slave Trixie were reduced to mere weapons, little more aware than the rifles resting upon their backs. They were focused, thoughtless, and utterly devoted to the cause they'd been assigned by the Master above all else. Magic was held to their bodies, shackled to their Owner's will.

It was those two who opened the portal for them, suspending their pathway through the world and into the devastated factory town that had been Ponyville.

An army of mindless minions continued their endless toil as the mares stepped through the portal, their eyes glowing the same brilliant green as the intruders. There came no response to the sudden presence of Sombra's soldier squad, merely a continuous creaking and squeaking from both the rubber and hardware still in use around the clock. A few of the farm ponies carried their loads towards a factory, their eyes and expressions as blank as ever. No thoughts, no will, just perfect cogs in an endlessly vast machine. Creatures that could do nothing more than follow commands, forever.

"Hm." Slave Celestia thought for a moment, a skill she had rarely exercised in the last few years. "The reports came from the edge of town... so the forest is the only place to hide."

They marched through city streets and onto cobbled rodes, their boots becoming louder as the ground became more natural. Even the Emperor's magical might had yet to truly tame the Everfree Forest, leaving them still in the maw of uncertainty and natural chaos. Creatures could be here, hiding and dangerous. Or perhaps their endless malcontents would ambush them first?

"Squad. Move in and be very attentive." she commanded as the team moved out, acting as one organism with many limbs.

"No hostiles detected." Stormwave, a former soldier, spoke firmly as she walked with Slave Fluttershy. There seemed to be nothing.

"Ambush!" Celestia shouted as her hoof triggered the mine, sending a small device into the air. She struggled to regain her magic before it all went white.
