I've gotta give it to the author. They really made a character that has just barely enough redeeming moments that you're holding out hope he'll convert and be the boyfriend she deserves. That's literally what this relationship is. He's a dick and she's too good for him but she's holding out hope and has all these conflicting feelings. And it's not easy making the READERS feel the same way about him. One moment he's discovering love, the next moment he's pulling lines like this.

I like to think of it as a sprinkling of character development followed by immediate character regression. When done right it's a sense of frustration towards the character, and I think Fuf did it well

Fuf does a really good job at making Flint a master at gaslighting. I just hope he will realize that he needs to deny his primal urges to make his relationship work.....But it's silly to apply human morals to furry art.

    It is quite fun though

  • Well I can understand both sides.
They pointed out, he got angry/aggressive when another male tried to speak with Tesla. Flint is still a Wild Pokémon, their world is different from domestic and tame pokémon.
Just like how it is for our pets vs how it is for the wild ones. He is driven by instincts, and survival instincts generally goes Food, Mate, Drink. During season, Mating takes priority above all else, there is tons of animals where the male will stop eating and drinking, even if it kills them, because their prime directive at that moment is not surviving, but making sure the species survive (reproduction if people wondered). His world is alien to them, as their world is alien to him.
Given time, he will likely prefer the world they live in, even if that means less sex, we will see where it goes.
And yes, both sides are at fault, and they will likely work things out. Flint need to learn self control with his instincts, and have some trust in those around him. And the others need to understand it is not something that takes a day or two, it will take time, at least he is trying.

  • To be honest, if you don't include sex in a "romantic" relationship, then you're either just good friends, or simply two people who happen to be standing next to each other a lot. It's that simple. Include sex in the apparently "romantic" relationship, or lose it to someone who's more competent.

And when that happens, you can slap your hands on either side of your face in shock, you can scream, you can make a fuss, you can gripe and complain, but it's still clear that all creatures on Earth have physical needs. Even bugs know how to have sex, so it's not difficult to shag someone you claim to love.

  • Tess seems to be ace or demisexual to me. Plenty of ace folks are in romantic relationships with loving partners... and I hope she finds one. Cuz I'm not so sure that Flint is gonna be good for her.

    Though, the author is spending a lot of time on Flint, so he's probably gonna stick around... but Tessie really does deserve better. ^_^;

Your dick will never say 'no' when you're feeling horny.

Love how people downvote you on Rita is talking when she had a whole stint where she was sleeping with multiple male Pokemon at once because she wanted to just be slutty with and the best part is is no one gives a fuck how it made Liam feel they're only throwing a shit fit now about the new character they all need to grow up

    Yup, double standards and what-not.

While it's true that Rita eventually seems to have changed her ways, that took time to build up to.

Flint is, for the most part, still quite feral. He's only very recently started to even consider the possibility that living with humans might have some merits. And as the post I responded to previously mentioned, she is his 'newly acquired' girlfriend. They haven't known each other for all that long; certainly not long enough for Flint to decide whether or not he wants to fully commit to being with her as his only partner. In fact, I seem to she guilt tripped him into it.

Romance and life in general are about more than satisfying carnal desire, plenty of people with little to no sex drive can have fulfilling relationships even though it is indeed difficult for them to "shag" their partner. This is exactly the kind of shallow narrow-minded mentality that Flint's character is meant to criticize.

Never said it was all about fulfilling just carnal desires. The point is, there’s a balance involved. Neither me or my friends, family, acquaintances, etc., have ever met any of those “plentiful people with little to no sex drive” who are apparently in fulfilling relationships (unless they’re like 70 years old and have no alternative anymore), and any relationship that’s had one or more people shirk the other’s sexual needs has almost always fallen apart 98% of the time. The “plenty of people” you’re talking about are clearly the minority, not the majority, so it’s unrealistic to place such high importance on such a low percentage of people.

If you’re implying that this is practical for the low-libido couples demographic, then that makes perfect sense, but expecting people with moderate-to-high libidos to just hold out for weeks or months is like telling a wolf to stay on a vegan diet. People who look down on those who recognize sex as a must-have in relationships, and call them “narrow-minded” have entered a detached “well, why don’t they just hold their frickin’ horses and deal with it” mentality. That cold rationale doesn’t just destroy relationships. It tortures romance to death by starving it of an openly obvious and essential factor of life. Dismissing sex in relationships where one or both of the partners needs it endangers the entire primal setup of human nature, and is unspeakably frustrating for relatively normal people who just want to have a real relationship.

On top of that, I don’t believe a word coming out of any poor sap’s mouth who says “yeah, I’m totally satisfied with our sexless relationship!” That’s either an obvious lie, or he/she doesn’t know any better, and is likely dying on the inside, but doesn’t know why.
