It's uncomfortable and awkward for, not so much any logical reason I think. But if you let it go you'll invite some really weird shit to be said to the point where it starts feeling a bit unhinged, to the point where no one really even WANTS to participate in the comments. (See rule34 for examples of largely dead comments outside of people saying what they'd do to the character, or attempting to solicit sex or erp, or whatever)

And you see the gold that comes from e6 comment threads sometimes. I've had many of them enhance or modify how I experience a post. In fact, incoming cringe, I've learned a lot reading comments from more experienced persons on a subject that is literally sparked by some dragon girl having her insides rearranged. Not to mention a good portion of the artists that post their own work here actually engage their audience. I've never and don't expect to see that kind of think happen in other booru sites.
I'm a free speech advocate for sure, make no mistake. I think you should be able to say what you want, but I balance that with the idea that this results in unfavorable outcomes if you just let it go in a lot of cases, and raging against the moderation of a privately owned platform stifles their own freedom expression of "I don't
want this shit on my website" which kind of goes against the whole principle anyway.
Not to mention there will be people at least in the short term just throwing slurs every other word out there at the very least simply for the novelty of it, cause their whole life they're told they can't do that pretty much everywhere else. Moderation is necessary because our sensibilities are simply not ready for actually free speech, as we are silly enough to attribute to other people of a group (myself included) speech that is uttered by an individual to said group and make a judgement and express and spread that judgement to other parties. This can boost or tarnish reputation, and I don't think it's argued that websites and site owners porn haven or not care about some parts of their reputation to varying extents.
In short, not saying I know what the site owners are thinking, but I do think the strict rules are just to keep the comment section from sucking balls to read or participate in. Mind you this is coming from someone who has had his comments moderated before, and isn't a fan of many of them.

I can definitely say I've learned things NOT porn related just from people purely wanting to give their input that isn't just "they're hot".
