MemberHouse went up for sale in my neighbourhood. In walking distance to a bus stop for a bus that es 10+ schools and 2 hospitals along with cutting through the centre of the downtown area.
It went up for about 800k CAD. Bought immediately and then they leveled the house, split the lot in half, and built two houses with such a large footpring that they look like they're breaking laws on how much yard a house needs. (It's a certain percentage of the lot. The house is about 1m from the edge of the property on the sides and 5m in front. Behind about 3m.) Anyways both new houses sold for 1.15mil and 1.32mil CAD respectively. The corner lot sold for more.
One house was empty except for the owner being there about once a week for somewhere around 18 months, after which they moved in I guess cuz they were there more often. Just one older dude on their own, from what I can tell.
The other house was for sale for about 7 months before a family moved in. They had the christmas wreath from their door that had been there for well over a 2.5 years last I checked.
Anyways, it's weird. Then again, my city has one of the top 20 most expensive housing markets in the world while also being a city full of students and govt workers.
