MemberI couldn't help but look up the bird that's referenced in this comic. The sad thing of it all it was declared extinct back in the 1920s and it was one of the few birds of the United States that was natural to the land it was extremely common in Florida and then eventually assuming due to human development the species went extinct.

MemberThe saddest part is how they were killed in such great numbers, as documented by the Audubon Society.
Carolina parakeets naturally approached injured/dead of their species to check on them, because they were flocking birds (naturally congregating in groups of 300+) and when they landed to investigate the other dead parakeets, the 'good samaritans' were also shot and killed by hunters.
Whole flocks were wiped out because they would not abandon their own.
