I didn't, about seven years back, and picked up a cat that was half-Siamese. Only afterwards did I learn that they are very vocal, and sometimes she drives me nuts. Still, I do my best, because A) she was beyond miserable at that animal shelter and I patently refuse to send her back, and B) it was my mistake, not hers...and besides, she's a total sweetheart.
EDIT: Realized I might wanna clarify: I refuse to send her to a shelter at all. If I must give her up, for any reason, I will personally find her a home and make sure she's cared for. That is the absolute least I can and should do.
