Hold your horses. It's a nuanced discussion actually and I'm far from a casual.
For one the game in the picture is Destiny 2 and there are no professional players as the games focus is on pve content... On top of that the game was designed for consoles first and therefor controllers first which leads into my next point.
Second lets say you were talking about pvp in Destiny 2 on pc. Well by hooking up a controller you have increased bullet magnetism and increased stickiness when your reticle is targeting a player. It can become an advantage at medium to long range depending on the weapon.
Third I've been to events for a variety of older games (some fps and some fighting games) and while uncommon it's not unheard of to see good players placing well using what is normally considered an inferior controller (xbox 360 controller vs M&k or any console controller or fight pads vs arcade stick).
