Worker Drones are autonomous, sentient robots created by JCJenson to mine for resources on exoplanets. They are vaguely humanoid robots, their faces dominated by a large black visor that displays their eyes and can show a wide range of emotions. Humans once treated Worker Drones as slaves, demeaning them and disregarding their sentience. Their AI was initially rudimentary, used primarily to carry out tasks, but with the ability to adapt in order to survive in certain circumstances.

Following a catastrophic core collapse orchestrated by Cyn (under the possession of the Absolute Solver), all organic life on the exoplanet Copper 9 was annihilated, leaving the Worker Drones stationed there stranded and forced to make a new life for themselves by forming a colony in the remnants of Copper 9's human settlements. They began wearing human clothing, displaying different eye colors, developing emotions, and emulating human behavior to the best of their ability.
