RB Omiya Ardija is a Japanese professional association football club based in Omiya, Saitama Prefecture, currently competing in the J2 League, the second tier of Japanese professional football. Originally founded in 1969 as NTT Kanto SC, the club solidified its identity in 1998 as Omiya Ardija, naming itself after a modified spelling of the Spanish word ardilla (squirrel) to honor the regional animal. In late 2024, the club marked a historic milestone when the Austrian energy drink conglomerate Red Bull GmbH acquired 100% of its shares, making it the first foreign entity to fully own a major Japanese professional sports team. Rebranded as RB Omiya Ardija, the team integrated into Red Bull's global multi-club soccer network alongside prominent clubs like RB Leipzig and the New York Red Bulls. The corporate takeover brought a transformation to the club's badge and visual identity, but intentionally retained the iconic orange and navy blue colors alongside its legacy squirrel mascots, Ardi and Miya, to respect local heritage. Hosting their ionate home matches at NACK5 Stadium Omiya, the club shares its hometown with local rivals Urawa Red Diamonds, with whom they contest the fiercely competitive Saitama Derby.
