A parody of the infamous Ctrl+Alt+Del strip Loss.

The strip itself depicts main character Ethan entering a hospital and being directed to a doctor seeing to his fiancee, finally ending on said fiancee in pain due to a miscarriage with Ethan standing over her. While characters are shown speaking, there is no dialogue.

"Loss" is reviled, both for adding unnecessary edginess to the (at that point light-hearted) webcomic and for using Ethan's fiancee as little more than his own plot development and not addressing her trauma for a couple of strips afterward. For his part, Tim Buckley (Ctrl+Alt+Del's author) conceded he really only had Ethan's perspective and that he should have done some research before publishing the strip.

"Loss"' four- dialogueless format lends itself incredibly well to clones and parodies, and it is not uncommon for the strip to be depicted as just seven lines (each line reflecting a person's position in the strip itself, resulting in three vertical lines on top and three vertical lines followed by a horizontal line on bottom).
